Padding to the door barefooted, Cass opened the door with a sleepy yawn before smiling at the blonde bubble of energy in front of her. Reaching out she touched Steph's arm with finger and thumb, feeling for the familiar pulse she nodded in satisfaction before Cass draped her arms around Steph in a rather gentle hug for Cass. She was still half-asleep, warm, and fuzzy though. Occasionally it happened, just mostly Kaine got to see it before he had sharp elbows in ribs and stomach.

"Did you bring popcorn?" Cass murmured sleepily, yawning as she tugged Steph in for movie night.

Sliding her fingers through Kaine's, Cass smiled at the rougher touch of his fingertips and squeezed his hand. She liked this, not just the sex or fighting without holding back but the quieter moments when Kaine wasn't tense, when they could just be themselves. Together. It was strange how happy something so simple as holding his hand could make her.

Leaning against him, she pressed her bare shoulder against his arm playfully as she tugged him through the doors of the supermarket into the cooler air of the store. Grabbing a trolley, Cass ducked under his arms and lifted herself up onto the trolley so she could face him.

"I never thought we would run out of packet noodles, I think Steph will think this is the end of the world." Cass spoke softly, spreading her legs a little to tug him close as he pushed the trolley. That was his job, her job was to keep her eyes on his back and well, occasionally sneak kisses and see if she could make him either grumpy or happy. Reaching out she scratched his stomach and smiled happily. "Mmm, I think I want to start with fruit. What do you want?"

He thought she had forgotten, that the question that she'd asked him will tipsy and tired was something that she could forget. She hadn't, she'd known exactly what she was asking but she didn't make it easy on him. Any chance, any moment where she could make him think she was about to ask him was an opportunity to tease, to drive him mad. He hadn't said yes, when she'd asked but she wanted him to. She'd wear him down slowly.

Rubbing his side, she pressed her lips against his shoulder before sliding off his lap to move around their kitchen. Stretching tiredly, she bounced on her toes as she put the kettle on. Watching him, she waited until he was standing before she stopped before him.

"Will you..." Cass got down on one knee, looking up at Kaine as she held out her hand. Lips parted, she took a breath in expectantly as if she were about to ask something monumental. "... pass me the green tea? I want to move it into one of the lower cupboards."

Cass smiled innocently at Kaine, looking at him with a knowing look.

She burst through the door to their apartment, hair wild, cheeks flushed, a little out of breath. She looked like the world was going to end, she looked like they were in danger for a moment... and then she smiled. Exhilarated. Kaine was probably used to it by now, her suddenly bursting into the apartment as if she was being chased and then... nothing. She was the bat who cried wolf almost.

"Hn," Cass murmured before tapping the timer on her wristwatch and checking her heartrate. Stretching, she bent down in the tight yoga pants before slipping the grey hoodie off over her head. Ruffling her hair, she kicked off her trainers before looking at Kaine with a wicked smile. "Beat my record, eighteen minutes."

She'd been running for a while now, improving her time each time she went. She could cover the city as Batgirl in less time but on her feet, on the street she needed to improve and so she would. And she was always very pleased, if a little hot and sweaty whenever she beat her time. Pulling her top off over her head, she climbed over the couch to straddle Kaine's lap before kissing him smoothly. Discarding the top on the floor, she smiled against his lips.

She doesn't speak much on their way there. Glancing beside her to check that Steph was still there, that Steph was still alive beside her, Cass pressed her lips into a thin line before leaning back. Tugging Steph out into the corridor, she led Steph down towards her apartment before fumbling with her keys to open the door. Kicking her shoes off, she announced her arrival home by the loud deliberate scuffling and thwack of shoes meeting the back of the sofa. She turned her head to check for Kaine.

Hn. He was either not home or in the bedroom or bathroom. Turning her head she listed for the sound of him before glancing towards the bathroom. He better not have been drinking.

"I'm home," Cass called out before tugging Steph into the apartment. Closing the door behind Steph, she looked at her friend carefully before nodding. Steph needed clothes which meant leaving her.

"I'll go get clothes. If Kaine comes... just-" Cass made a gesture of her hand that might either be hit him or shake his hand. To be fair with Kaine either was accurate. "I'm in there."

Cass wandered towards their bedroom, discarding socks and abandoning them behind her.

The shower is on, the sound echoing through his apartment as she moves silently through it. She discards her shirt, leaving it without sound on the floor before she moves into the bathroom allowing steam to escape before she slips in. His back is to her as she moves in behind him, one small hand sliding around his waist before gliding across his stomach.

She loves the feel of him beneath her hands; the strong muscle giving way to her scarred hands, the way he tenses and relaxes at her touch, the way he enjoys it and the way she does too. Leaning up onto her tiptoes she caught the bottom of his earlobe with her teeth before biting him sharply, lips smiling against his skin. Her other hand slid down his thigh, her hands saying hello to him even before her mouth started to talk.

"Hello," Cass said finally.
onewhoisall: ([Cass]Despair)
Cassandra was not an emotional person. She didn't react the way others did, she didn't act the way a normal girl would to things. She wasn't normal but she didn't mind that. Not until now, she didn't know what to say or do about what, who she had seen. She didn't know what to do but she knew who she wanted to see.

Her face was blank, her fingertips rushed as she hurried into his apartment. She didn't look at him as she moved quickly over to him, throwing her arms around his middle and holding him tightly. She pressed her face against his chest, making the world go away for a little while. She didn't say anything, she didn't have to because he would know. He knew her better than anyone here. Almost as well as Steph.

Barbara was here. Barbara was here. It was good but it was all wrong.

I can feel him, his impatience and anger lying on the surface of his skin. The same skin glistening with sweat from the heat of the club and the press of bodies up against us both, my body up against his. I can feel him, not just his simmering emotion but the barely contained desire pressed against me. He wants me, hn. I want him too. I don't think Bruce would approve.

I lead, glancing back to make sure his eyes follow me as I tug on his hand and pull him out of the warmth and into the cold night. I shiver, nipples hardening in the cooler air before I turn to face him and tug his body towards mine. I lean up onto my tiptoes, meeting his lips before falling into the heat of his body.

Burning, it feels like I am burning. And I don't care, I don't care even if Bruce would not approve.

I move, silently and effortlessly beside him running with him in time. He has his abilities to rely upon but this was who I was born to be. Effortless, deadly, silent, ruthless. I train him hard, waiting as I hit each part of him first with fists and sticks and leg strikes until his body is warmer and until his reactions are quicker. This was the warm up.

And then I made him run, suicide drills, back and forth. Until his breath is quicker, until there is sweat on his brow and until he is beginning to understand. I won't stop, not yet. I move to intercept him suddenly, pressing my body against his and leaning my weight into his before bending and using his momentum to throw him over my body. My lips curl into a smile before I turn my head.

"Always expect the unexpected... now push ups, two hundred. Then you may have a break," I say simply, the may hinting at the possibility. We have been training for hours so far but it isn't enough just yet. He has to be stronger, he has to be quicker, he has much to learn.

Kaine. He's missing, I have been searching. Looking for him since I surprised him but unable to find him. It takes me a while but I find him, finally, in a dark alley. The shape of his body familiar enough by now that it makes me stop, hesitate and pause before I drop from the rooftop into the alley and land silently. My nose wrinkles, the smell of booze and urine fill my nostrils as I move towards him. I creep forward, eyes taking in the bottle and the hint of hair on his cheeks as I approach him from behind. I understand him before I see him.

I don't talk to him, don't give him the chance before I strike out quick and sharp at a bundle of nerves. I murmur an apology as his body goes slack and I move forward to catch him. The bottle breaks and I pull him away from it before collapsing back against the building. He is heavy in my arms but I have carried heavier.

"Kaine," I murmur, a soft apology before I move his weight slightly. I struggle but it is a struggle that I can bear. Lifting the grapple gun, I fire it before hooking his body to mine. We fly together, slowly across the city and when he begins to stare I hit him again. It is only when we are safe back at my apartment that I will allow him to waken.

I place him in the shower, grunting at the weight and rubbing my shoulder at the tension. I glance looking around before my eyes settle on the cannister, taking the razor and foam I move over to him before straddling his waist. The cool of the tiles soothes me as I ignore the smell, the presence of him and concentrate on the task at hand. I do not slip, I shave him cleanly before I reach up, moving close to him before I press the on button.

He will be angry but I am ready. I will not allow him to destroy himself.

Her fingertips press against her face, sliding and scraping over tired skin as she stares at too bright sun through the gap in her curtain. Rolling over her legs twist and tangle within the blankets, burrowing briefly for a moment before she shifts, irritated and hot and, onto her back. Her body was still sore, still aching, she should rest... staring at the ceiling, Cassandra remained still for another moment before moving suddenly.

She would rest later. Train now. Do... something.

Padding quietly across the floor, Cass grabbed the hem of an overly large shirt as she padded into the hall. Stretching up onto her toes as she shifted her bare arms over her head, Cass walked through the living area nose twitching slightly at the familiar sight. Dropping the shirt onto the counter, she bent down for a carton of juice before reaching up for a glass. Eyes glancing to the edge of her vision, she grabbed another glass before placing it on the counter.

"How love have you been here?" Cass murmured quietly, fingertips reaching behind her for his t-shirt before dragging it over her naked body. Raising an eyebrow, she pushed the glass across the counter. "Hn, what are you watching?"
